About the position:
The Process Design Engineering Team Lead supervises a team of Process Design Engineers within the Chevron ENGINE. These roles support Chevron Refineries and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets. This role also forms part of a larger Process Engineering network across Chevron. This role’s primary purpose is to provide leadership to a team responsible for providing process engineering design data through data analysis and modeling for projects, engineering work package development and other engineering related activities. The Process Design Engineering team will support cross functional teams engaging with Operations, Maintenance and other engineering functions across Chevron.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Process Design Engineers providing leadership and guidance on standard tools and processes
Sets clear expectations and supports creation and management of individuals’ performance and development plans
Partner with customers and stakeholders to prioritize the team’s workload. Ensure the team is appropriately resourced to meet the customer's needs and business plan commitments
Leverage expertise and knowledge of process systems to
Promote a continual improvement mindset while removing barriers and seeking simple, fit-for-purpose solutions Ensures lessons learned are shared and incorporated into the applicable systems for sustainability
Provide leadership in sharing information and resources across the business units
Utilize Chevron and Industry Engineering Standards for Safety in Designs
Closely monitors process operations, resolving process operating issues, planning for upcoming turnarounds, supporting business needs; developing process designs of Refinery equipment
Leads projects of large scope and complexity under minimal supervision
Support department recruiting and hiring efforts
Develop and apply process engineering and design principles to deliver high quality and predictable designs on projects
- Design, implements, and optimizes oil and gas processes and equipment in new and modified facilities
- Develops detailed process simulation models to evaluate designs and operating scenarios
- Review and improve designs for operability, reliability, and ease of maintenance
Required Qualifications:
Must have an engineering degree in Chemical or Process engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
Minimum of 10-15 years relevant experience performing Process Design Engineering in an Oil & Gas operating environment
Demonstrated supervisory experience will be highly regarded
An aptitude for practical application of the chemical engineering fundamentals of mass transfer/distillation, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process control and kinetics
Knowledge of refinery and LNG process technologies will be highly regarded
Proficiency in Pro II and/or Hysys modeling software is preferred
